India is a nation of 1.3 billion people, 28 States, 9 Union Territories, and more than 22 official languages along with a wide diversity in culture and realign. For this kind of nation, it is not easy to carry a single ideology among all citizens, but “Unity in Diversity” is the essence of this country, the secularism and tolerance are the roots of this great civilization.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is known as the icon of unity of Indian. He was the founding father of the Modern Republic of India. He devoted his life to unify the nation by integrating the common people in the freedom struggle, especially the princely states which wanted to maintain their own domination even after independence.

To mark the contribution of the most elegant leader, the government of India proposed to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patal as a National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas).

To tribute the noble hero Sardar Patel, on October 31st, 2014, The Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off a Marathon known as “Run for Unity” It was to spread the values of Sardar Patal stood for, and to uphold the ideals of unity.

Nowadays, the Run for Unity is a momentous event in India, it is held on every 31st October with a determination to Unite the People, Unite the Villages, Unite the Cities and to Unite the Nation.
